Weightlifter Tatev Hakobyan has announced his retirement from sports

Member of the Armenian women's team at the European Weightlifting Championship, which is about to end in Batumi, Georgia, 2023. Tatev Hakobyan, the +86 kg silver medalist of the European Championship held in Yerevan, took off his sneakers during the last approach, announcing his retirement. This is reported by the KGSMS Ministry.

In the snatch exercise, Hakobyan successfully performed two approaches, holding first the 102 kg barbell above his head, then the 106 kg barbell. He was 9th in this exercise. In the push-up, Tatev did only one approach, lifting 125 kg. With the result of 231 kg, the Armenian sportswoman was 12th.

Commenting on the decision to end his career, Tatev Hakobyan noted.

"I have been playing sports for about 15 years. Now I think is the right time to turn this page. I got married last year and I want to spend more time with my family. These years have hardened me. it can be said that my character was formed in weightlifting. Weightlifting has given me memories, developed my willpower. I thank the people who have been by my side during these years. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish as I wanted. I had already decided that I would end my career. I think the excitement got in the way a little bit because I put on more pounds in training."

Referring to her future plans, the 30-year-old athlete stated that she intends to stay in sports.
