On April 9, a national mourning was declared in Lebanon in connection with the death of 254 citizens during the bombings of Beirut and other cities.
This was announced in a decree issued by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. "Prime Minister Salam declared Thursday, April 9, 2026, a day of national mourning for the compatriots who became victims of Israeli attacks against hundreds of innocent and unarmed citizens," the decree reads.
Salam ordered the closure of government offices, non-governmental organizations and municipalities. National flags will be flown at half-mast.
The authorities will also regulate radio and television programs.
