"2025-26 the school year started with a scandal. The parents of the first graders discovered that there is no picture of Mesrop Mashtots, the author of the invention of Armenian writing, in the Alphabet. The minister of KGMS announced that the first graders can see it with a QR code. However, the upset parents and the public did not calm down and to this day, when listing the destructions of these authorities, they definitely remember the fact of removing Mashtots from the Primer.
We learned that the noise and public anger played their role: the textbooks for the 2026-27 school year are already being printed, and in this year's Primer, Mashtots has already taken its rightful place in the textbook, without QR codes and manipulations.
KGSMN confirmed our news. "For the reprinting of the textbook "Aibbenaran" for the academic year 2026-2027, the Ministry informed the authors of the "Aibbenaran" textbook to review and correct the mistakes and errors in the textbook, necessarily including the picture of Mesrop Mashtots and the Armenian alphabet. The authors of the "Primer" textbook have already sent the electronic print files of the updated versions of the "Primer" textbooks for the 1st grade of the "Mother" subject.
The submitted electronic versions were submitted for examination in the prescribed manner."
