The lifting of US sanctions against Iran should be a part of any possible agreement to resolve the crisis over Tehran's nuclear program, stated the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghai.
"As for the elements of any agreement or deal, regardless of what name is chosen in the end, it is absolutely clear that the core of such an agreement will be the removal of sanctions. In return, Iran will take steps to ensure that the Iranian nuclear program will never again be militarized," the diplomat was quoted as saying by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to Baghai, "these two components are the basis of any agreement that can be discussed and accepted by both parties."
The new round of meetings between the Iranian and US delegations will take place on February 26 in Geneva.
