The active involvement of the recently joined BRICS members can have a positive impact on the dynamics of international trade and redefine its foundations, said Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
"Half of humanity will participate in BRICS activities. a significant part of the world's GDP will be in BRICS. In that case, it will be possible to establish a new dynamic in trade policy, as well as cultural policy and relations between states," he said in an interview to India TV, as quoted by the president's press service.
According to him, Brazil supports the principles of multilateralism in world trade and does not intend to revise its relations with its priority partners. "Brazil does not want a second cold war.
Brazil wants to trade with the United States, China, India, and Russia. I am a defender of free trade, multilateralism and harmony between nations," he said.
Brazil handed over the BRICS presidency to India in 2026.
