A federal judge in the US state of California has accused the US President Donald Trump's administration of "terrorizing migrants" and breaking the law in deporting them, the Associated Press (AP) reports. "Americans have expressed deep concern about the illegal and groundless actions of the executive branch.
They not only terrorize citizens of third countries, but also use violence against their own citizens," said Judge Sunshine Sykes in the decision cited by the agency. As an example of such actions by US authorities, the judge mentioned two US citizens, Rene Goode and Alex Pretty, who died in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during a clash with border guards. According to Sykes, in many cases the government claims it is deporting the most dangerous criminals, when that is not true.
Furthermore, the administration is failing to provide migrants with due process, which "harms their families, their communities and the fabric of this country."
