The European Commission demands that the defense industry of EU countries increase production by 50 times. This was announced by European Commissioner for Defense and Space Affairs Andrius Kubilius, speaking at the defense forum held in Madrid.
He expressed the opinion that after the start of the special military operation, Ukraine allegedly "increased military production 50 times".
"European ambitions should be the same. New factories must be built, the latest equipment must be used, and qualified workers must be engaged to produce such weapons," he explained. According to the European Commissioner, in order to achieve this, the EU countries must guarantee "long-term and stable demand for weapons" for the industry, which, according to him, is necessary "for peace in Europe".
Kubilius called on EU members to "fix the need to maintain large military stockpiles" in legislation so that defense industry companies can be confident in the reliability of their investments.
