Vietnam War Veterans File Lawsuit Against Trump Over Arch Plans In US

Several Vietnam War veterans have filed a lawsuit against US President Donald Trump's administration. They believe that the arch to be built by Trump in Washington will obstruct the view of Arlington Cemetery and nearby monuments, reports The Washington Post, referring to the text of the lawsuit.

"Plaintiffs believe that the proposed arch, by disrupting the iconic view of the Abraham Lincoln Monument from Arlington Cemetery, will tarnish their military and diplomatic service, as well as the legacy of their friends and other veterans buried at Arlington Cemetery, and will spoil their personal experience of visiting the cemetery," said the document obtained by the publication's reporters.

The lawsuit claims the arch would be placed in a way that would disrupt views of both the Lincoln Memorial and the cemetery. Furthermore, the plaintiffs allege that the White House intends to build the arch without congressional approval or compliance with legal requirements for building the structure. The veterans want the court to declare the construction of the arch illegal until it receives "authorization from Congress and complies with the due process requirements of the law."
