Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Tariq Rahman, who won the parliamentary elections, became the first male Prime Minister of Bangladesh in 36 years.

The post was previously held by his mother, Khaleda Zia, and then by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who left the country in August 2024 after resigning amid mass protests. 60-year-old Rahman lived in London since 2008.
