The release of 11 Russian citizens by Baku would be a manifestation of goodwill. Coming soon

Baku can make a gesture of goodwill by releasing 11 Russians, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said in an interview with TASS.

"The quick release of the Russians is our absolute priority," he stated.

According to Galuzin, the relevant ministries of Russia and Azerbaijan are studying various options for the repatriation of citizens. This issue is regularly raised in bilateral political contacts.

"Our embassy is in close contact with both the detainees and their relatives," added Mikhail Galuzin.

On June 27, several dozen Azerbaijanis were arrested in Yekaterinburg on charges of murders committed years ago. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan expressed a "strong complaint" to Russia, stating that "two Azerbaijanis were brutally killed." On July 1, seven Sputnik-Azerbaijan employees were arrested in Azerbaijan, including editor-in-chief Igor Kartavikh and editor-in-chief Yevgeny Belousov. Later, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the arrest of 10 more Russians on charges of drug smuggling from Iran, drug trafficking and cybercrime.
