Representatives of Russia and Ukraine reached an agreement on the definition of a ceasefire during recent talks in Abu Dhabi, Politico reported, citing sources.
According to the newspaper, the meeting in Abu Dhabi could not break the deadlock. However, an unnamed European official told Politico that Russia and Ukraine have reached a general agreement on the definition of a "ceasefire" and the creation of a demilitarized zone after hostilities cease.
However, two main contentious issues remain unresolved: the possible presence of Western troops on Ukrainian territory and Ukraine's borders. The newspaper also reported that the meeting of representatives of Russia, the United States and Ukraine could take place next week in Abu Dhabi or Miami.
