Venezuela seeks to strengthen long-term cooperation with the United States in the oil and gas sector and become the world's largest oil producer.
This was stated by the authorized representative of the President of the Bolivarian Republic, Delsey Rodriguez, while visiting the Venezuelan-American joint enterprise "Petro Independencia" with the US Minister of Energy Chris Wright.
"We want to make the transition from the status of the country with the world's largest oil reserves to becoming a global oil production giant," Rodríguez said on the air of the Venezolana de Televisión TV channel. He emphasized that the strengthening of long-term and effective cooperation with the US in the oil and gas sector "should be beneficial for both the Venezuelan and the American people".
The authorized representative of the president also noted that Venezuela is ready to receive investors from the USA and other countries of the world.
The Petro Independencia joint venture, which was created with the participation of the Venezuelan state oil and gas company PDVSA and the American company Chevron, is located in the Orinoco oil zone. It extracts and processes around 40,000 barrels of extra heavy oil per day.
