The Mexican Senate has approved the reduction of the work week

The Senate of Mexico has approved the Constitutional reform, which envisages reducing the working week from 48 hours to 40 hours. This is evidenced by the broadcast of the session of the upper house of the parliament. The decision was adopted in the plenary session with 115 votes in favor and 15 against.

Now the project will be sent to the Chamber of Deputies of the Congress for discussion. The reform envisages making changes to Article 123 of the Constitution of the country and implementing a phased implementation of the new norm from 2026 to 2030. The initiative was proposed by President Claudia Sheinbaum in December.
