WSJ: The US is exploring the possibility of seizing Iranian oil tankers

The US administration is considering the option of intensifying the pressure on Tehran by confiscating Iranian oil tankers. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal, referring to its sources.

According to the newspaper, in this way, Washington wants to try to push the Islamic Republic to sign a deal that will limit its nuclear program. At the same time, the US is not yet taking such a step, as it is concerned about the possible increase in oil prices and assumes that the seizure of Iranian oil vessels may be followed by a decisive response from Tehran.

The official of the White House, commenting on the WSJ's inquiry about whether the US can take such a step, noted that there are various action options at the disposal of the American leader if the negotiations with Iran fail.
