The United States is ready to expand its nuclear potential and take a number of other steps if the security situation requires it, US Under Secretary of State for Disarmament and International Security Affairs Thomas Dinano said on Friday.
"Those actions (within the framework of responding to the situation in the security sector) include the expansion of existing forces, the diversification of our potential, the creation and deployment of nuclear forces covering new theaters of operations, as well as, if necessary, making changes in the concept of our nuclear deterrence," he said during his speech at the conference on disarmament issues in Geneva.
