A batch of 28 American-made M1A2T "Abrams" tanks may be delivered to Taiwan in the coming weeks. As the Taipei Times newspaper reports, referring to the source, the supply can be carried out until March.
According to the source, the island's military department is "actively engaged in organizing the fastest possible transportation of tanks to Taiwan by cargo ships." The expected arrival period is from the end of February to the beginning of March. M1A2T is a new version of the American M1 "Abrams" tank. In 2019, Washington approved the sale of 108 such tanks to Taipei.
The total value of the transaction was about 40.5 billion Taiwan dollars (about 1.45 billion US dollars at the time of signing the agreement).
The island has already received 80 tanks. 38 in December 2024 and another 42 in July 2025.
