Callas ruled out the creation of a European army outside NATO

Head of European diplomacy Kaya Callas ruled out the possibility of creating a European army parallel to NATO.

"Each European country already has its own army, and 23 EU countries are also members of NATO, so I can't imagine that they will create another separate European army," Kallas said when he arrived at the meeting of EU foreign ministers, answering the question of Ukrainian journalists about the possibility that the core of the European army "could be made up of the armed forces of Ukraine."

"The armed forces must have a clear command structure, who reports to whom. If we start creating parallel structures, it will only complicate the overall picture," he emphasized.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, announced that the EU countries cannot ensure the security of Europe without the participation of the USA and called on the Europeans to "stop dreaming".
