Two men have been burned in a plane crash at Heck Field, Australia, according to PerthNow (PN).

The incident happened around 6:00 a.m. on January 27 at a private airstrip in Jacobs Well. The 73-year-old pilot and passenger died in the crash of the two-seater RV-8A. The plane lost control shortly after takeoff and burst into flames on impact, causing a fire in a wooded area near the airport.

The fire was extinguished by rescuers after several hours. Police are currently investigating the purpose of the flight and are examining the black box as well as airport CCTV footage.
