Bloomberg: Israelis faced a psychological crisis

As a result of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, thousands of Israelis suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This is reported by the Bloomberg agency.

According to the estimates of the Israeli non-profit organization Natal, to which the agency refers, the direct and indirect costs arising from the current state of the country's population may reach 160 billion dollars over the next five years. Among the current problems are the decrease in work efficiency, the increase in chronic diseases and the increase in cases of domestic violence.

According to Natal-based research, 625,000 of Israel's population of 10 million have already had or will have the psychological effects of the conflict, and 60-80,000 people will develop psychological problems that will prevent them from returning to the labor market.

32,000 servicemen receive treatment in the rehabilitation department of the Israeli Defense Ministry due to psychological disorders. 13 thousand of them were hospitalized during the last two years during combat operations. According to the department's estimate, the number of patients in the specialized institution may reach 50 thousand in 2028.
