Italy cuts its diplomatic staff in Iran

Italy will significantly reduce the number of employees of the embassy in Tehran, most of them will return, the press service of the Italian MFA reports.

As it is mentioned in the message, the meeting of the crisis group of the Foreign Ministry was held yesterday under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister of Italy Antonio Tajani, as a result of which the said decision was adopted.

"The minister has confirmed that the priority remains to ensure the interests of Italian citizens and has given an order on the significant reduction of the embassy's staff, most of which will return to Italy in the coming period," the message said.

As detailed, the Italian ambassadors in Tehran, Tel Aviv, Washington, as well as the permanent representative of Italy in the EU in Brussels participated in the session.
