The speaker of the Czech parliament considered the 30-meter flag of Ukraine in the center of Prague a provocation

Tomio Okamura, the chairman of the Chamber of Deputies (lower house) of the Czech Parliament, called the installation of the 30-meter Ukrainian flag in the center of Prague, on the Karlov Bridge, a provocation. He wrote about it on the X social platform on Sunday.

He clarified that the event was organized on Saturday by the Embassy of Ukraine in Prague on the occasion of the "anniversary of the unification of Ukraine 107 years ago".

"A 30-meter flag of Ukraine was placed on the Karlov bridge. The event was organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in Prague. In my opinion, this is an unnecessary provocation by Ukrainians towards our citizens who are against mass migration from Ukraine to the Czech Republic.

This event in one of the most significant places in Czech history definitely does not contribute to good Czech-Ukrainian relations. Respect for the host country and its symbols should be self-evident," Okamura wrote.

The speaker noted that he discussed this issue with the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs, Petr Marcinka, "so that similar actions are not repeated in similar places."

Okamura also emphasized that the Czech government is preparing a new law on tightening the conditions for the stay of foreigners, including Ukrainians, in the Czech Republic.

In 1919, the Act of Unification of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic was proclaimed.
