The USA announced that the meeting between Putin and Zelensky is "very close"

After the negotiations held in the UAE, the parties approached the meeting of the presidents of Russia and Ukraine Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky, reports Axios, referring to American officials.

"We are very close to the meeting between Putin and Zelensky," one of the officials told the publication.

According to the source, if the next tripartite meeting to be held in Abu Dhabi is successful, it may be followed by a meeting in Moscow or Kiev.

American officials characterized the negotiations as "productive", progress was made during them. They noted that "there was no unresolved issue" and that "everyone treated each other with respect because people were really looking for solutions."

"Everything went as well as possible," said one of the officials.

The American official also told Reuters that he thinks bilateral talks between Putin and Zelensky or trilateral talks between the presidents of Russia, Ukraine and the United States are "not that far off".
