The vice president of Kazakhstan can become the second face of the state

The position of the vice president in Kazakhstan, the creation of which was proposed by the president Kasim-Jomart Tokayev as part of the expected reform, may become the second highest position of the state, and in case of premature termination of the president's powers, the performance of his duties will pass to the vice president.

It is proposed to make the head of the unicameral parliament the third figure in the government system, Yerzhan Zhienbaev, assistant to the president on legal issues, member of the country's constitutional commission, said.

"It is proposed to establish that in case of early termination of the powers of the president, they will first of all pass to the vice president. If the vice-president is not able to assume the powers, they should be transferred to the president of the Kurulta (the proposed name of the unicameral parliament), and in the case of the impossibility of the president of the Kurulta, to the prime minister," he said during the first session of the commission, which was broadcast on state TV channels, as well as on the official pages of the Constitutional Court on social networks.

According to the current constitution of Kazakhstan, in the case of premature termination of the president's powers, the performance of the duties of the head of state is transferred to the chairman of the Senate (the upper house of the parliament), then to the chairman of the Mazhilis (the lower house), and then to the prime minister.
