The Russian Foreign Ministry considered the meeting between Russia and Ukraine in the G7 format meaningless

The holding of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine within the framework of the meeting of the "Great Seven" (G7) countries does not make sense in the current conditions, stated the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova, answering the question of "Lenta.ru". According to him, Moscow's attitude towards the G7 format has been known for a long time, and it no longer corresponds to modern international realities.

Zakharova emphasized that the "seven" are unable to contribute to the resolution of crises, because political decisions of global significance have long been taken on other platforms. According to him, the developments taking place in the world clearly show that the G7 has lost its influence and role.

The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry also reminded that most of the G7 countries conduct an openly hostile policy towards Russia, continuing to provide comprehensive support to Kiev and contributing to the delay of military operations in Ukraine. According to Zakharova, there is no reduction in sanctions pressure from those countries, instead there is a direct confrontation with Moscow. It was reported earlier that French President Emmanuel Macron proposed to organize a G7 meeting in Paris with the participation of Russia and Ukraine.
