The Prime Minister of Belgium explained the reason for refusing negotiations with Russia

Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever stated that it is not a good idea for Europe to negotiate with Russia, because Europe currently does not have enough power to strengthen its statements in practice. His words are reported by The Guardian.

According to De Wever, Europe must "wake up and re-arm" to respond to the structural changes taking place in the United States. He emphasized that today European countries are highly dependent on technologies that they do not control and do not own, which weakens their strategic independence.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov responded to the calls to start negotiations with Russia, stating that if the European leaders really want to communicate with Moscow, then it is enough to just call. He also added that the statements of those countries, which in recent years excluded the possibility of negotiations, now sound not serious.
