The arrest of Shirak Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan for his remarks about the need for union with Russia has caused confusion and concern, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the press conference summarizing Russia's diplomatic activities in 2025.
"Regarding Vardan Ghukasyan, you were absolutely right, noting that he is accused of calling to discuss the possibility of Armenia joining the Union of Russia and Belarus.
