US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud, regarding the situation in Iran.

"They agreed to closely cooperate on further developments in the region," the State Department said in a statement.

The parties also discussed further joint steps to strengthen security and stability in the Middle East.

On January 15, the Saudi minister discussed the situation in the region with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
