The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Antonio Tajani, called on the European countries to show moderation in the negotiations with the USA regarding Greenland.
"We have to be very moderate, because our goal is not to fight the Americans," the European publication Politico quoted Tajani as saying when asked if the EU should take a tougher stance against US President Donald Trump.
"While talking to Trump, he told Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni that we do not support new tariffs, but we want to reach an agreement. We want to talk with the Americans in order to achieve good results and a mutually beneficial agreement," the minister noted.
Earlier, Trump announced in a post on the TruthSocial social network that the United States will begin imposing 10% tariffs on Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, France and Sweden, which will continue until the parties agree on Washington's "full and complete acquisition" of Greenland.
