Greenland will not give in to Washington's pressure, despite US President Donald Trump's threats to impose tariffs, Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen has announced.
On Saturday, the US president announced a 10% tariff against Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Finland in February, which will later rise to 25% and remain in effect until the United States signs an agreement to buy Greenland.
"Greenland is a democratic society with the right to make its own decisions. Recent US statements, including threats of tariffs, do not change this position. We will not give in to pressure," Nielsen wrote on Facebook.
He added that Greenland insists on dialogue, respect and the principles of international law.
