The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained 73,000 immigrants this week, which is a new record in the agency's history, CBS reported, citing data from the US Department of Homeland Security.
In November 2025, CBS reported that a record 66,000 people were being held in ICE custody.
"As of Thursday, ICE has detained nearly 73,000 people nationwide who face deportation, the highest number the agency has ever recorded," the channel reported.
As mentioned, for the first time in the 23-year history of the department, the number of people in custody exceeded 70,000.
According to the report, approximately 67,000 of those arrested are single adults who face deportation for alleged immigration violations.
