Tehran does not seek to escalate tensions, but will respond to any aggression with a decisive, proportionate and legal response, said Gholamhossein Darzi, Iran's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations.

"Iran does not seek escalation or confrontation, but any act of aggression, direct or indirect, will be met with a decisive, proportionate and legal response in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter," he said at the UN Security Council session.
