An eruption of the Semeru volcano was recorded in Indonesia

In the central part of Indonesia, in the province of East Java, an eruption of the Semeru volcano was recorded, the "Antara" news agency reports, referring to the observatory.

According to the source, the ash reached a height of 2000 meters above the crater of the volcano, or 5676 meters above sea level. The ash spreads in the eastern and southeastern directions. Local authorities have advised the residents of the region to be careful and stay within a radius of 5 kilometers from the crater due to the danger of the volcano ejecting hot rocks.

Semeru is the fourth highest volcano in Indonesia (3,676 meters above sea level) and the highest peak on the island of Java.

The world's largest archipelago, the Indonesian archipelago consists of 18,000 islands and lies on the Pacific Ocean's so-called "Ring of Fire," making the region vulnerable to strong seismic activity.
