The US administration has demanded that the Venezuelan government urgently revise its oil production laws to benefit US companies, according to The Washington Post (WP) foreign policy commentator David Ignatius.
"The Washington administration has given Venezuela's acting president, Delsey Rodriguez, a few days to rewrite Venezuela's oil law to give US companies preferential access," the article said.
It is also noted that some experienced executives of American energy companies warn that the process of modernization of Venezuela's oil industry will be "long and expensive".
