South African President Cyril Ramaphosa demanded the release of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife and expressed support for the Venezuelan people.
"We categorically reject the actions taken by the United States and support the people of Venezuela.
We demand the release of President Maduro and his wife," Ramaphosa said at a memorial service for anti-apartheid activist Joe Slovo on Tuesday.
The South African president also called on the UN Security Council to take decisive action in response to US actions.
