The Prime Minister of Thailand demanded an explanation from Cambodia regarding the shelling

Thai Prime Minister Anuthin Chanwirakun has demanded an explanation from Cambodia for Tuesday morning's mortar attack on a Thai military post that left one soldier wounded, despite Cambodia's insistence that the shooting was accidental.

"We demand an immediate, detailed explanation from the Cambodian side. We are investigating the incident in accordance with the procedures outlined in the joint statement between Thailand and Cambodia on the December 27 ceasefire.

The use of countermeasures is determined within these procedures, and Thailand reserves the right to respond in one way or another to a mortar attack that injured our serviceman," Chanwirakun said during a press conference at Government House in Bangkok.

According to him, the explanation of the Cambodian side, which announced after the shelling that it happened "accidentally", is not enough for the Thai side to decide how to deal with the incident.
