Thailand has accused Cambodia of violating the ceasefire regime

Cambodia has violated the ceasefire during the border conflict with Thailand, firing on the positions of Thai troops in the province of Ubon Ratchathani.

This was stated in a statement issued by the Joint Press Center of Thailand regarding the situation on the border with Cambodia, in which representatives of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom participate.

"Cambodia violated the ceasefire on January 6 at 7:25 (3:25 Moscow time). Cambodian troops fired a mortar at the Chong Bok area. As a result of the incident, one Thai soldier received shrapnel injuries," the statement said.

Cambodia and Thailand agreed to a ceasefire on December 27 at 12:00 local time (08:00 Moscow time) after the third special meeting of the border general committee of the two countries.

The last stage of escalation of the border conflict between the countries began on December 7 with the skirmish on the border.
