The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Jose Manuel Albarez, stated that the solution to the situation in Venezuela should not be imposed from outside, and especially by force.
Commenting on the US military action in the republic, the diplomat noted that "an action was taken that clearly contradicts international law."
"The solution for Venezuela cannot be imposed from outside, even more so by force," he emphasized in an interview with the Cadena SER radio station.
"We already have many examples in history, in modern history. let's remember, for example, Iraq," said the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"The use of force, in the end, leads not to democracy, but to chaos and instability, not only in the country where it is used, but also in the region."
Speaking about the EU's reaction to the US actions, Albares said that he would like to make a tougher statement from the EU. Moreover, according to the minister, Madrid is ready to cooperate with the government of Venezuela's Acting President Delsy Rodríguez.
