US President Donald Trump said that Nicolás Maduro could have been killed in case of resistance. According to him, Maduro tried to hide in the bunker, but the American military "surprised" him and did not allow him to hide.
Trump claims there was an intense firefight during the operation that lasted about 47 seconds. According to him, Maduro reached the door, but did not manage to close it because it was blown up.
"The president of Colombia has cocaine factories and sends cocaine to our country. Yes, he will do the right thing, be careful," he said, then added: "People standing behind me will rule Venezuela. He (Venezuelan's vice president) is ready to do what we think is necessary for Venezuela."
