Garnik Danielyan writes: A little while ago, we visited the commander of the "Sisakan" squad, Ashot Minasyan, in the "Vardashen" penitentiary with his colleague Petros Meghryan. The commander is determined. A person with such will and spirit is impossible to suppress.
Ashot Minasyan is an exceptional figure both as a legend of the Artsakh war and as an intellectual. After talking for hours, I hardly manage to say goodbye to him. During the war, Minasyan always served as an example to everyone, being the first to jump into the battlefield with his family.
Unfortunately, he lost two brothers during the fighting. The commander has serious health problems and detention is incompatible with such problems. I am sorry to record that what the enemy failed to do is done by these authorities. Such behavior is not only morally unacceptable, but also a legal absurdity. The Court of Cassation, leaving Ashot Minasyan's complaint unexamined, effectively closed all his defense opportunities, as a result of which the commander was imprisoned for 1 year and 10 months.
Such a decision is illegal and illegitimate. We must put an end to this criminal practice of imprisoning our most unpatriotic figures on trumped-up charges. With our daily voices and our joint efforts, we must achieve that justice will finally prevail and our friends will be freed.
