Swiss authorities called on their citizens to “stay away” from rallies in Georgia

The Swiss authorities called on citizens of the country not to participate in rallies and protests after the parliamentary elections in Georgia. The message was posted on the page of the Swiss Foreign Ministry on the social network X. “Stay away from mass gatherings and demonstrations of any kind in Georgia,” the publication said. On October 26, parliamentary elections were held in Georgia.

Almost 20 parties competed for seats in the country's highest legislative body, which consists of 150 deputies. The ruling Georgian Dream party, in power for 12 years in a row, won with 54.3% of the vote. Several parties announced a boycott of parliament, and the opposition party “Coalition for Change” refused parliamentary mandates and state funding.

The Georgian opposition does not recognize the election results and demands a re-vote. Protests took place in the country. Earlier, Orban said that the Georgian government did not allow the country to become a “second Ukraine.”
