As it is known, the 5th congress of the "Bright Armenia" party led by Edmon Marukyan was held yesterday in Yerevan, which was dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the founding of the party and the upcoming political stage, in particular, the National Assembly elections to be held in 2026. According to the information of "Past" newspaper, before the official part, internal discussions took place, during which the upcoming stages of political activation of the party, as well as approaches to possible pre-election cooperation, were specified. During the discussions, emphasis was placed on a step-by-step process without any hasty steps.
It should be noted that the assembly decided to participate in the National Assembly elections to be held in 2026. By the same vote, the newly elected leadership was authorized to start discussions in order to form a possible pre-election alliance. Edmon Marukyan stated in his speech that the party excludes any cooperation with the current government.
At the same time, it was noted that the party is considering cooperation options with ideologically related political forces. Discussions are planned to be conducted without publicity until subject agreements are formed.
According to the information of "Fact", the contacts are in the preliminary stage.
By the way, in his speech, Edmon Marukyan also presented a "road map" for removing Nikol Pashinyan from power.
According to the information we have, this has caused quite a lot of interest in the embassies operating in Armenia from the point of view that Nikol Pashinyan may lose in the upcoming elections. Let us add that the assembly re-elected Edmon Marukyan as the party chairman. The new composition of the Management Board was also elected by closed vote.
It should be noted that not only old party members, but also new ones were elected to the management council. In general, the congress emphasized that "Bright Armenia" is starting a phase of organizational and political activation aimed at participating in the 2026 elections. The format of participation and the issue of possible alliances in the party are planned to be clarified in the coming months.
