"Zhoghovurd" daily writes:
"According to everything, the official boycott against the church has been proven many times that it started a long time ago, 1-2 years ago, but it has developed in recent months.
In the framework of this "invasion", for example last year in May, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, announced from the podium of the parliament: "The time has come for us to discuss and understand why the tax obligations that are available to everyone are not applied to the church."
I want to understand why they should not pay taxes, and in terms of legislation, we should review how a churchman whose paw is kissed is higher than a businessman who pays taxes," said Simonyan, comparing church clergymen with businessmen.
That said, they tried to include the church in the list of proud taxpayers, not knowing that the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church as a religious organization is not only a large taxpayer, but is also included in the list of 1000 large taxpayers.
"Zhoghovurd" daily newspaper learns from the publications of the State Revenue Committee that the "Armenian Apostolic Holy Church" ranked 508th in the list of 1000 large taxpayers in the third quarter of 2025, paying 524 million drams in taxes.
And here, the taxes paid by the church in the previous four years amounted to: - 378 million drams in 2020, - 403 million drams in 2021, - 450 million drams in 2022, - 435 million drams in 2023. Let's note that the taxes paid by the church are increasing every year, not decreasing.
However, parallel to this, the pressures against the church and church members are increasing, as well as the state debt.
