"The Zangezur Corridor will transform the impact on Eurasia, the Eurasian transport landscape," said Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan. He also noted that Azerbaijan plays an important role in the transformation of this transport landscape.
According to him, Baku "would like to see the European Union as part of this new transport system", including within the framework of the EU Global Gateway initiative. Hajiyev presented the corridor as a practical component of Azerbaijan's "peace strategy".
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, previously announced that the "Zangezur Corridor" could be operational by the end of 2028. The capacity of the corridor will be 15 million tons of cargo per year.
