Rainfall in some parts of central Vietnam has exceeded 1,900 mm in the past week, the publication said. The disaster caused the greatest damage to the provinces of Daklak, Khankhoa and Zyalai, where more than 200,000 houses, schools, medical institutions and administrative buildings were destroyed and damaged.
As a result of floods and landslides, almost 63 thousand hectares of agricultural land, more than 100 thousand hectares of fruit plantations were damaged, and 3.5 million farm animals and birds died.
The economic damages are initially estimated at more than 340 million dollars. Extreme weather conditions have been recorded in Vietnam in recent months. Two typhoons a few weeks apart had caused death and destruction.
