The United Nations passed a resolution on an Olympic truce at the 2026 Winter Olympics

The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for an Olympic truce during the 2026 Winter Olympics to be held in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, TASS correspondent reports.

The draft resolution entitled "Building Peace and a Better World through Sports and Olympic Ideals" was adopted by consensus.

"We must work together to separate sports and politics. This means athletes should be able to travel to host countries and compete "rather than face the threat of staying at home because they have been refused a visa for political reasons," International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Kirsty Coventry said before the vote.
