A Bangladeshi court has sentenced former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in absentia to life imprisonment and the death penalty for crimes against humanity. The court session is broadcast live on the court's website.

The court found the former prime minister guilty of all five counts of crimes against humanity.

"Sheikh Hasina and her top aides have been found guilty of committing crimes against humanity. Based on the evidence presented against them, the Bangladeshi court sentenced Sheikh Hasina to life in prison on her first charge of inciting violence, ordering murder and failing to take measures to prevent atrocities,” said one of the judges.
