The death toll from typhoons in the Philippines has reached 297

The death toll from super typhoons Calmaeg and Phung Wong in the Philippines has reached 297, the Philippine News Agency (PNA) reported, citing the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

In early November, the Philippines was hit by super typhoons Kalmeegi and Phung Wong. Earlier it was reported that at least 259 people died as a result of the two typhoons. On November 6, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared a national disaster.

"The number of victims of the two typhoons Tino (Filipino name: Kalmaegi) and Uwan (Filipino name: super typhoon Fung Wong) reached 297," PNA writes.

According to the latest reports, Typhoon Calmagi has killed 269 people in the Philippines, most of which were found in the province of Cebu, Negros Island, and Western and Eastern Visayas. Another 523 people were injured and 113 are still missing.

Super typhoon Fung Wong killed 28 people in the country, most of them were found in Ifugao, Northern Luzon, 52 people were injured, and two were considered missing, the local agency reported.
