Mertz expects Kyiv to actively fight corruption and implement further reforms

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky, during which he stated that the German government expects Ukraine to actively fight corruption and implement further reforms, particularly in the sphere of the rule of law.

Stefan Cornelius, the official representative of the German Cabinet of Ministers, informed the journalists about this.

He noted that Zelensky informed Mertz "about the corruption investigations against members of the government of Ukraine who have already resigned".

"The German chancellor emphasized the expectations of the German government that Ukraine will actively advance the fight against corruption and further reforms, particularly in the sphere of the rule of law," said Cornelius.
