Lavrov announced the reason for the postponement of the Putin-Trump summit in Budapest

White House Secretary Donald Trump postponed the Russian-American summit to be held in Budapest due to behind-the-scenes rumors, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in an article published on the ministry's website.

"It is unknown to me where and from whom the secret reports addressed to the American leader came from, after which he either postponed or canceled the Budapest summit," Lavrov emphasized.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Moscow is ready to hold a summit in Hungary if the preparations are based on the results of the previous negotiations.

He added that the summit can take place only with a carefully prepared agenda.

On October 16, Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump held their eighth telephone conversation this year. After the conversation, Moscow and Washington began to prepare for the Budapest summit.
