"Zhoghovurd" daily writes:
"Once again, the RA Investigative Committee faced the facts in the Anti-Corruption Court. In particular, judge Vahe Dolmazyan did not consider the new charge against businessman Samvel Karapetyan to be valid, and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan remained in custody only for the episode of making an appeal.
It should be noted that 10 days before the expiration of the detention period, the pre-investigation body changed the charges brought against Samvel Karapetyan, the founder of the "Tashir" group of companies. Items 2 and 3 of Part 3 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia were added (using official or official powers, or the influence caused by them, especially large amounts of money laundering). As a result, judge Vahe Dolmazyan, referring to the new charge of the pre-investigation body, did not consider it valid.
This is not the first case that the pre-investigation body wants to aggravate the accusation against Samvel Karapetyan at any cost, but the attempts are in vain. Even 2 months ago, Karapetyan's defense attorney stated that the set of accusations against the businessman - money laundering, non-payment of taxes and duties and their organization - did not overcome the threshold of reasonable doubt during the court sessions.
Judge Tigran Davtyan removed the charges of "robbery" and money laundering against Samvel Karapetyan from the case, leaving only the part regarding his expressed opinion and the phrase "Our way". It turns out that the "judge of the heart" of the government Vahe Dolmazyan, judge Tigran Davtyan, judge Zhenya Meliksetyan of the RA Court of Appeal rejected the pre-investigative body and did not consider the latter's accusations of "using official or official powers, or the influence caused by them, especially large amounts of money laundering" to be justified. In fact, Samvel Karapetyan will be in custody for one more month, a total of 5 months, just for voicing the opinion he expressed and the idea of "Our way".
